If At All...

In the run up to the school athletic championship, the little kid dreamt of being on the podium. Since he was not good at studies, he thought may be if other athletes fail to turn up, he might have his hour of glory. But as always more than three athletes turned up and he ended up counting from the end. But even during the awful time that he was having, he always knew that he was a good person. And he read in the storybooks that good guys finish first. Still the stigma of being a non-performer in studies, sports and life in general was getting to a point where he himself was beginning to doubt his very existence. It was not that he did not want to study, it was just that he was not able to concentrate, at least he thought so. And his frail physique didn't had enough steam to win him laurels in purely physical activities. His attempt to excel at the school debate competition also left him speechless!!! But he kept trying his hand at almost everything under the sun and in the process, not much later in his life, found something that he liked and was good at. And when things were going fine, the once-a-kid missed his younger days. He missed his days as a virtual underdog. If at all he knew the end of the story then, he could have lived life a little more - without the fear of being written off, without the fear of anonymity. If at all...
